Turkmenistan is implementing new measures aimed at protecting public health and improving the quality of medical rehabilitation services. In this regard, the Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan has approved new procedures for providing rehabilitation care to adults and children.
The new rules define the main areas involved in organizing rehabilitation services. Their primary objective is to help restore impaired or lost bodily functions, prevent disability, and maintain patients’ ability to carry out everyday activities.
Under the approved procedures, rehabilitation services will be provided as part of primary health care, specialized medical services, sanatorium and resort treatment, and other forms of medical care.
The new rules provide for rehabilitation care to be organized in three stages. Multidisciplinary teams comprising specialists from various fields will take part in this process. An individual rehabilitation plan will be developed for each patient according to their health condition and specific needs. The effectiveness of the measures implemented will also be assessed regularly.
The new procedures cover children as well as adults. When providing rehabilitation care to children, their age-related characteristics, the nature of their illness, and their potential for recovery will be taken into account.
In addition, the use of telemedicine is envisaged in the organization of rehabilitation services. This approach may help expand access to medical care and enable patients to receive advice from specialists during their rehabilitation period.
The approval of the new procedures represents an important part of Turkmenistan’s ongoing efforts to improve its medical rehabilitation system, promote an individualized approach to patients, and protect public health.
