Within the framework of this forum, the delegation of Turkmenistan took an active part in the main meetings, presenting new directions for regional cooperation and a national model for countering modern challenges.
One of the most important events of the session was the ministerial meeting of the participating states of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA). Following the meeting, the parties adopted a "Joint Statement."
The main focus of the meeting was on the institutional foundations of the SPECA development concept and the goals set for the period up to 2030. It should be noted that the work carried out under Turkmenistan's chairmanship of this Program in 2025 was highly appreciated by the participants.
The delegation of Turkmenistan gave special prominence to the global initiatives of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on combating climate change and desertification. To ensure environmental security in the region, the Turkmen side put forward a proposal to establish a Regional Center for Combating Desertification for Central Asian countries. Establishing this center as a specialized institution of ESCAP will be a major contribution to uniting regional environmental efforts and implementing the UN 2030 Agenda.
Turkmenistan's activity at this international forum once again confirmed the country's status as a responsible partner committed to the norms of international law and inclusive development.
According to the final decision, the next session of the Commission—the 83rd—is scheduled to be held from April 26 to 30, 2027, in Shanghai, People's Republic of China.
