Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan participated in the international seminar titled “Customs within the Regional Connectivity Agenda: Connecting the European Union with Central Asia, the Black Sea Region and the South Caucasus”, held in Warsaw, Poland, on September 7–9.

The event, organized by the European Commission, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Polish National Revenue Administration, was aimed at developing international cooperation along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.

Representatives from 15 countries, along with specialists from relevant institutions of the European Union and the United Nations, took part in the seminar.

During the meetings, participants discussed issues related to the modernization of customs procedures and the facilitation of transit cargo transportation. In particular, they exchanged experience on developing the “Single Window” mechanism, harmonizing transit procedures through the use of the eTIR system, and improving risk management systems.

As part of the practical section of the seminar, participants were introduced to solutions based on modern information technologies, as well as the specific features of using inspection and control equipment. They also visited the Warsaw Customs Office and studied its operational experience.

Following the event, the main obstacles arising in cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor were identified. Work also began on preparing a draft joint action plan aimed at accelerating customs procedures and enhancing the security of supply chains.

The development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor is of significant importance for expanding trade and economic relations between Europe and Central Asia and for improving the efficiency of international transit transportation.
