
The World Contact Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held in Antalya, Turkey, has come to a close. Organized by the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation (JJIF), this prestigious competition brought together 245 elite athletes from 16 countries worldwide. Demonstrating outstanding performance at the championship, the national team of Turkmenistan managed to win a total of 42 medals.
As a result of the bouts where our national athletes showcased superior mastery, our team earned 14 gold, 11 silver, and 17 bronze medals, securing the first place globally in the overall team standings.
The second line in the medal tally was taken by the national team of Vietnam with 14 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, while the top three was rounded out by the team of Kazakhstan with 10 gold, 13 silver, and 16 bronze awards.
It is worth noting that the Turkmen athletes performed successfully across multiple disciplines and various age categories at this international tournament, proving their comprehensive preparation and high physical capabilities.
This magnificent victory on the international sports stage has become another clear testament to the extensive work being carried out in our country under the leadership of our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, aimed at developing mass physical culture and high-performance sports, as well as raising the sports prestige of our Motherland worldwide to lofty heights.
For reference, the World Jiu-Jitsu Championships have been held once every two years since 1994 and consist of several stages across various disciplines. The "contact jiu-jitsu" discipline was introduced to the competition program in 2017.
