Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography Annasahet Kakayev has been selected as a member of the international jury panel of the global media competition “2026 Global Media Awards.”

According to the International Information Centre of Turkmenistan, the process of accepting applications and required documents from participants has already begun. This year’s competition is being held under the slogan “Water Bankruptcy – Every Drop Counts.”

The main goal of the “Global Media Awards” project is to draw the attention of the global community, journalists, and various content creators to the issue of declining freshwater resources, while supporting innovative ideas and solutions aimed at preventing water shortages.

The theme of this year’s competition was determined based on a United Nations report prepared by Dr. Kaveh Madani, Director of the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH).

Television and radio companies, independent journalists, bloggers, and students are eligible to participate in the international competition. Entries will be evaluated in the categories of “Television” and “Digital Media.” The first category accepts reports and documentaries, while the second includes social media content and projects based on artificial intelligence technologies.

Works created between May 15, 2024, and September 15, 2026 may be submitted for participation. The deadline for submitting applications and documents is September 15, 2026.

The participation of a representative from Turkmenistan in the international media competition’s jury demonstrates the expansion of the country’s international cooperation in the field of mass media.
