The 20th Asian Summer Games will open on September 19 in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture and its administrative center, the city of Nagoya. The national team of Turkmenistan will also take part in one of the major sporting events on the Asian continent.
According to the Turkmen Sport newspaper, the Turkmenistan delegation participating in the Asian Games consists of 57 people. They include 34 athletes, 15 coaches, 2 international-category referees, as well as representatives of sports organizations, doctors, a sports journalist and other specialists.
The national team of Turkmenistan will compete for medals at the Asian Games in 8 sports.
The athletes will compete in:
wrestling — 6 athletes;
kurash — 6 wrestlers;
boxing — 5 athletes;
wushu — 5 athletes;
weightlifting — 4 athletes;
karate — 3 athletes;
swimming — 3 athletes;
athletics — 2 athletes.
Turkmen athletes will compete at one of Asia’s largest sporting events with the aim of proudly raising the country’s green flag and further strengthening the international reputation of Turkmen sports.
The 20th Asian Summer Games will be held from September 19 in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture and the city of Nagoya.
