Turkmenistan’s under-15 national football team suffered a 4–0 defeat to Canada in the round of 32 at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival being held in Azerbaijan. The match took place in Govsan, where the Canadian players secured the victory.

During the group stage, Turkmenistan played five matches. The team defeated Hong Kong 2–1 and the Cook Islands 3–1. However, it lost to Italy 5–1, Qatar 4–0 and Benin 4–1.

As a result, Turkmenistan finished fourth in Group L and moved into Division D, where teams compete for positions from 97th to 128th.

Under the tournament regulations, teams that lose their matches are not eliminated from the competition. Instead, they continue playing against other teams that have also lost their previous matches. The winners of each of the six divisions, from A to F, will be declared champions of their respective divisions. The overall tournament winner will be the team that achieves the best result in Division A.

Turkmenistan’s next opponent will be Syria’s youth team. Syria lost 2–1 to Andorra in the round of 32.

The FIFA tournament is played in an eight-a-side format on reduced-size pitches. Each match consists of two 20-minute halves. Under the competition regulations, every national team will play at least 10 matches during the tournament.

The competition will conclude on October 31, 2026.
