The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, conducted specialized training for Turkmen specialists on the development of the securities market.
The online training, aimed at enhancing professional qualifications, was organized within the framework of a joint UNDP project focused on improving the institutional and regulatory framework of financial markets. Specialists from the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Ashgabat Stock Exchange participated in the training.
The training, titled “Legal Regulation of the Securities Market and Its Key Issues,” covered the main areas of modern stock market operations. In particular, participants received information on the legal framework for issuing shares and bonds, the specifics of brokerage services, and the principles of depository activities.
During the training, participants became familiar with the use of trust management instruments, the activities of mutual investment funds, and the mechanisms of stock exchange trading and clearing operations. International practices in protecting investors’ rights, preventing improper market practices, and effectively regulating financial markets were also studied.
The training not only enhanced the knowledge of Turkmen specialists in this field but also provided practical approaches for adapting international experience to national conditions.
The results of the event are of significant importance for improving the national infrastructure of the securities market, strengthening its regulatory framework, and developing effective mechanisms that contribute to the sustainable development of Turkmenistan’s domestic financial market.
