Uzbekistan is exploring options to station its future fleet of commercial cargo vessels along the Caspian Sea, specifically within the international seaports of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. This strategic move aims to reliably secure the neighboring country's export-import operations and enhance the stability of transit cargo transportation across the region.
According to a report by the "Upl.uz" news outlet, Tashkent has already begun developing specialized mechanisms for leasing and purchasing cargo ferries for active deployment in the Caspian Sea waters.
Providing insights into the project's implementation, Shohruh Gulamov, the acting Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, confirmed that intensive organizational and analytical work is currently underway in this direction.
The opening of new logistical routes via the Caspian Sea serves as a clear indicator that interregional trade and economic relations—particularly the transport and transit cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan—are advancing to a brand-new stage.
