World Bicycle Day: A sports event organized in Ankara with the participation of Turkmen citizens
On June 3, 2026, a mass sports event was organized in the capital city of Ankara by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkey on the occasion of World Bicycle Day and the glorious 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence. The event, held on a special bicycle path along the shores of Lake Eymir, one of the most beautiful corners of Ankara, was actively attended by embassy staff, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora in Turkey, local mass media, and young students studying at higher educational institutions.
Speaking at the solemn opening ceremony arranged prior to the start of the sports rally, the speakers noted that the establishment of World Bicycle Day by the UN specifically based on the initiative of Turkmenistan is highly recognized by the global community. The creation of this international holiday is a clear result of the wide-ranging work carried out by our country to develop physical culture and sports, sustainably promote a healthy lifestyle in society, implement environmentally friendly means of transport, and educate the younger generation in the spirit of a caring approach toward the environment.
After the sports rally along the lakeshore concluded, the participating guests and youth expressed with great pride that they always fully support Turkmenistan's state-level international initiatives aimed at developing sports and strengthening peace, friendship, and sustainable cooperation in the world.
