
On April 11–12, the city of Yerevan hosted intense competitions for the World Cup, featuring the world’s elite sambo practitioners. The national team of Turkmenistan showcased exceptional skill in both combat and sport sambo, concluding the tournament on a high note.
In the Men’s Combat Sambo discipline, Sanjarbek Awazberdiýew (64 kg) overcame all opponents to claim the gold medal, raising the flag of Turkmenistan to the highest peak. In the same weight category, Hakberdi Jumayew earned the bronze medal.
Additionally, Ahmet Tanriberdiýew (58 kg) and Kerim Kerimow (71 kg) secured silver medals, falling only in their respective final bouts. In the Women’s Combat Sambo division, Kurbanay Kurbanowa (50 kg) and Zyba Orunowa (65 kg) delivered outstanding performances, both earning prestigious silver medals.
Our athletes in the Sport Sambo discipline also contributed to the team's success. Atanyýaz Amangeldiýew (88 kg) fought through a competitive bracket to secure 3rd place and a bronze medal.
