The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Global Environment Facility (GEF), has announced the launch of a large-scale creative competition in Turkmenistan titled "Aral of the Future — Creating Solutions Today."
Young activists and innovators aged 15 to 25, who are ready to offer original ideas for improving the environmental situation in the region, are invited to participate in this initiative. Participants are asked to present their concepts in the form of detailed 3D models or unique artistic installations.
The main goal of the project is to increase the interest of the younger generation in the conservation of water resources and the restoration of the unique ecosystems of the Aral Sea region.
The works of the participants should relate to topics such as the development of "green" infrastructure, efficient management of water resources, and the implementation of sustainable consumption principles. The organizers emphasize the importance of innovative approaches that can unite community efforts to achieve long-term ecological well-being in the region.
Applications for participation in the competition will be accepted until May 22, 2026. The program of events includes a thematic exhibition and open voting to be held on June 3 at the UN Building in Ashgabat.
The authors of the best projects will be announced on June 5, at a ceremony dedicated to World Environment Day. Information regarding participation requirements and submission terms can be found on the official UNDP website.
