
Yesterday, a meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, S. Mukhammetdurdyyev, and a delegation from the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). During the meeting, issues related to the preparation for the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government, scheduled to be held in Ashgabat on May 22, 2026, were discussed, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side emphasized the special significance of the upcoming session, stating that it is viewed as a vital platform for further strengthening multilateral cooperation within the Commonwealth.
The parties discussed in detail the agenda items within the framework of the draft Protocol on coordinating preparations for the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government, as well as the organizational and protocol aspects of preparing for the upcoming meeting.
It was noted that as the chairing state of the CIS in 2026, Turkmenistan is taking all necessary measures to ensure a high organizational level and the successful conduct of the meeting.
