Uniform germination of winter wheat across fields this year has boosted confidence among grain growers in Dashoguz region regarding high yields. Currently, farmers are carrying out the necessary agrotechnical measures to care for the crops. High-yield wheat varieties such as “Alekseyevich” and “Bezostaya-100” are increasingly occupying larger areas of farmland. Over recent years, these varieties have demonstrated strong performance under local soil and climate conditions.
Before being introduced into large-scale production, these wheat varieties underwent preliminary testing on experimental plots and showed high results across all key indicators. According to specialists, they are resistant to lodging, root damage, various diseases, and unstable weather conditions, while also offering high productivity and excellent flour quality. The main producer of winter wheat in the region remains the S. Turkmenbashi district, traditionally leading with grain fields covering around 30,000 hectares. Akdepe, Koneurgench, and Shabat districts are also among the major grain producers.
The region benefits from a large fleet of specialized agricultural machinery and sufficient transport resources to ensure timely harvesting and transportation. In addition, three high-capacity flour-milling complexes and seven grain storage elevators have been commissioned. Most of them can simultaneously receive, store, and clean up to 50,000 tons of grain, ensuring local producers are adequately supplied with seed material.
