The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting between the co-chairs of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Road and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd. This was reported by the official website of the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current state and future prospects of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, discussing bilateral relations and interaction within prestigious international organizations, primarily the United Nations. The significance of the principles of good-neighborliness and mutual respect inherent in the relations between the two states was specially emphasized.
The Iranian side congratulated Turkmenistan on the adoption of the Resolution "International Year of Law, 2028" by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan, noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran acted as a co-sponsor of the document.
The sides thoroughly discussed issues concerning trade and economic cooperation and exchanged views on further strengthening the role and importance of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to systematically develop cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.
