With the onset of spring, the responsibilities of agricultural workers increase significantly, and the pace of agrotechnical activities is steadily gaining momentum. Currently, grain farmers across the country are working effectively to ensure proper care for their crops. In our province, 130,000 hectares have been sown with tested wheat varieties, and a bountiful harvest is anticipated.
The "Watan" farmer association in the Charjew district is recognized as a leader nationwide. These days, alongside preparations for cotton sowing, the association is properly managing grain crops by applying mineral fertilizers and carrying out irrigation.
"In our association, 1,272 hectares are planted with high-yielding wheat varieties like 'Alekseyich' and 'Bezostaya-100.' We plan to produce seed wheat on 600 of those hectares. Last year, we delivered 4,300 tons of grain to the state and achieved 108% of our cotton contract," says agronomist Shatlyk Jumayev.
The 5th tenant group of the association has maintained top performance in the district for many years. Currently, they are conducting foliar feeding with mineral fertilizers and taking measures against pests and weeds.
"Our group consists of 32 tenants. Last year, we harvested 285 tons of grain from 71 hectares. This year, as we celebrate the 35th anniversary of our Independence, we aim to harvest 350 tons," shares group leader Hudayberdi Orunow with pride.
Tenant Ikram Kurbanov’s plot also stands out for its excellent condition. Farming with his family since 2008, Ikram harvested 50 centners per hectare last year and expects to exceed 55 centners this year. His family also contributes to the silk industry, having produced 150 kg of cocoons last season.
