From 26 to 30 October 2026, a delegation from the Supreme Court of Turkmenistan paid a working visit to Estonia under the project “Support for the Digital Transformation of the Judicial System of Turkmenistan”, implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The main objective of the visit was to study international experience in introducing electronic judicial proceedings, using modern information technologies and improving the administration of the judicial system.
As part of the programme, meetings were held with representatives of Estonia’s Supreme Court and the Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs, as well as court officials and experts.
During the visit, the Turkmen delegation gained an in-depth understanding of Estonia’s electronic justice system (e-Justice), its regulatory and legal framework, and the mechanisms that enable electronic information exchange between government institutions.
One of the key outcomes of the visit was the discussion of a draft Roadmap for the digitalisation of Turkmenistan’s judicial system, prepared with UNDP support. Practical recommendations provided by Estonian experts are expected to be incorporated into the final version of the document, taking national development priorities into account.
The visit provided an opportunity to learn from international experience in introducing digital technologies into Turkmenistan’s judicial system and advancing electronic judicial proceedings.
