From February 2–5, a Turkmen delegation is participating in a regional practical training workshop in Dushanbe on the topic “Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF): Enhancing Capacity for Greenhouse Gas Inventory Development and Policy Assessment.”
The main goal of the workshop is to assess greenhouse gas emissions and sinks in the relevant sector, as well as to develop participants’ practical skills in evaluating the impact of climate policy. Special attention is given to data preparation and use, monitoring land use and its changes, and applying tools to evaluate climate measures.
The important workshop is aimed at improving the quality of greenhouse gas inventories and enhancing methods for policy assessment in the LULUCF sector within the ReCATH modules.
“Exchanging experience and joint practical activities within regional trainings help strengthen the climate reporting capacities of Central Asian countries,” noted Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the Turkmenistan Project Office of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia.
During four days, participants will examine methods and approaches for conducting greenhouse gas inventories in the LULUCF sector, taking into account national characteristics of the region’s countries, assess the impact of climate policy, and share experience on technical achievements and emerging challenges in inventory preparation.
