On April 27, 2026, a formal meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to our country, Mohd Suhaimi Bin Ahmad Tajuddin. During the talks, the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations were thoroughly analyzed.
A special place in the meeting was given to the activities of the Malaysian oil and gas giant, "Petronas," in Turkmenistan. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this landmark partnership. The company's contribution to the development of the country's fuel and energy complex and the effectiveness of joint projects were particularly emphasized.
Cooperation in the field of education was highlighted as one of the most productive areas of Turkmen-Malaysian relations: Currently, hundreds of Turkmen students are studying various professions at leading Malaysian universities. Collaboration established with the Petronas University of Technology, supported by "PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd," aids in training highly qualified personnel. Turkmen specialists regularly participate in professional development consultations and training seminars within the framework of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP).
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen the humanitarian and economic relations between the two friendly nations.
