The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and New Zealand convened their inaugural political consultations at the department head level via videoconference. The meeting marked a significant step forward in establishing a structured political-diplomatic dialogue between the two nations, reinforcing mutual support for global peace, security, and multilateral initiatives within the United Nations.

During the consultations, the Turkmen delegation expressed gratitude to New Zealand for co-sponsoring the UN resolution on the role of sustainable energy transit. Both sides discussed collaborative prospects under the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035) and reviewed Turkmenistan's environmental initiatives for Central Asia, including proposed regional centers for climate technologies and desertification control. Recognizing modest existing trade volumes, the diplomats agreed to stimulate direct B2B contacts and foster cooperation in high technologies, agriculture, water management, and academic exchange under UNESCO frameworks.
