
On April 29, 2026, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Seychelles, Barry Faure, who arrived in Turkmenistan on his first official visit.
During the meeting, the parties noted that this visit is of significant importance for developing cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
The diplomats emphasized the importance of intensifying political and diplomatic talks between the two states. In this regard, it was noted that organizing mutual visits at high and top levels is one of the key indicators.
The parties discussed cooperation within the framework of international organizations, primarily through the United Nations. The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for the support of the country's international initiatives and invited the Republic of Seychelles to join the Group of Friends of Neutrality.
The interlocutors also stressed the need to expand the contractual and legal framework of bilateral cooperation.
The heads of the foreign ministries reviewed the possibilities for developing trade and economic cooperation. In particular, special attention was paid to organizing joint business forums, exhibitions, and fairs, establishing direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries, as well as developing cooperation in the transport, textile industry, and tourism sectors.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues of the international and regional agenda. Opportunities for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, including education, science, and culture, were considered. In this context, proposals were made to organize meetings between relevant agencies and to hold Culture Days in the cities of Ashgabat and Victoria.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in further developing mutually beneficial and effective cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Seychelles.
