
A Turkmen delegation consisting of representatives from the State Concern "Türkmengaz", the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the State Concern "Türkmennebit" attended the annual conference on the implementation of the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP) 2.0 program of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
As noted in the report, the conference was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The meeting discussed the issues of promoting measurement-based reporting and reducing methane emissions in the oil and gas industry in accordance with the "Gold Standard" requirements.
The conference brought together representatives from over 150 high-level member companies, accounting for more than 42 percent of global oil and gas production, as well as government and academic partners.
During the meeting, specific measures to reduce methane emissions were discussed with the aim of achieving Level 5 of the gold standard reporting.
Additionally, within the framework of the conference, the Turkmen delegation held bilateral meetings with representatives of the World Bank and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The meetings discussed the potential role of the OGMP 2.0 standard and a proposed grant project to create a system for Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) of methane emissions.
