In Turkmenistan, together with the international community, a number of mass events and sports competitions will be organized on the occasion of World Bicycle Day, celebrated on June 3.
According to the report given by Vice-Premier B. Mammedov at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on May 22, a large-scale mass bicycle parade is planned to be organized in our capital city on June 3. Also, on the occasion of the holiday, bicycle motocross (velocross) events, various sports competitions, scientific-practical conferences, and promotional awareness events are scheduled to take place in the velayats of the country, as well as in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag from April 30 to June 3.
During the government meeting, Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov listened to the report and emphasized that World Bicycle Day is an international sports holiday that celebrates a healthy and happy life. The Head of State instructed to hold all planned physical culture and sports events at a high organizational level.
As a reminder, World Bicycle Day was established on the initiative of Turkmenistan in April 2018 during the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. Furthermore, in 2022, during the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, once again at the proposal of our country, the Resolution "Integration of mass bicycle movement into public transport systems for achieving sustainable development" was unanimously adopted by the member states.
Cycling, which is an environmentally friendly type of sport, is gaining wider popularity every year in the world, and particularly in Turkmenistan, which makes a great contribution to the development of the mass health-improving movement.
