The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has introduced its prospective projects in Turkmenistan for the 2026–2028 period. Dmitry Kabrelyan, ADB Senior Private Sector Development Specialist, presented these projects on Wednesday during the international forum "Investments in the Future of Turkmenistan" (IFT 2026), which opened in Ashgabat.
The list of initiatives includes projects in healthcare, transport, water resources, energy, and entrepreneurship support. Specifically, the projects involve improving the quality of nursing services, modernizing the Ashgabat–Dushak and Mary–Dushak railway sections, managing water resources with climate resilience in mind, developing the export potential of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and implementing projects related to electricity distribution, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. Other key areas include supporting urban development and professional vocational training in tourism and services.
According to the bank representative, the next phase of cooperation involves moving from establishing a regulatory framework to the practical implementation of projects. The primary focus will be on selecting and preparing pilot public-private partnership (PPP) projects that can demonstrate the effectiveness of this mechanism.
Dmitry Kabrelyan also emphasized that the development of public-private partnerships is aimed at improving the quality of infrastructure services, introducing best practices, and strengthening the country's institutional capabilities.
