
Sapar Palwanow, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium, held a briefing in Brussels for Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), with the participation of the European Parliament's Delegation for relations with Central Asia and Mongolia. The meeting was chaired by the head of the delegation, MEP Giuseppina Princi. This was reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium on Tuesday.
During the briefing, the necessity of strengthening and modernizing the legal framework of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union was emphasized. It was noted that developing strategic cooperation between the EU and Central Asia requires a more structured dialogue with each country in the region.
The parties also drew special attention to the importance of regular high-level contacts and consistent inter-institutional cooperation.
Furthermore, the Turkmen Ambassador announced the inter-parliamentary dialogue involving members of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, to be held in Brussels on March 5th. During the upcoming meeting, a wide range of contemporary cooperation issues is planned for discussion, ranging from economic partnership and transport connectivity to the humanitarian field and the development of parliamentary relations.
Sapar Palwanow noted the significant potential for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union in the fields of economy, climate change agenda, sustainable development, and humanitarian dialogue, stressing the importance of deepening partnership amidst global challenges.
The briefing confirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to constructive dialogue with the European Parliament and aims at further developing cooperation with the European Union based on mutual respect and common interests.
