The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is carrying out the final stage of technical and organizational measures to launch the digital international "e-TIR" system in the country at full capacity. This was announced during the coordinating working meeting on the implementation of the international "e-TIR" system held via video conference.
High-level representatives and international experts from the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the Turkmen Association of International Road Carriers (THADA), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) attended this working meeting organized through the digital system.
During the talks, the technical specifications of implementing the "e-TIR" system in Turkmenistan and the ongoing infrastructure projects were discussed in detail. As noted, a solid legal framework necessary for our country's integration into this modern digital system has been established by now. According to the plan, appropriate measures will be implemented in June-July of this year to launch the "e-TIR" system in a test mode (pilot project) jointly with the customs authorities of other countries in the Central Asian region.
According to the unanimous consensus of international experts, the "e-TIR" system opens up new and wide opportunities to accelerate data exchange in international cargo transportation at regional and global levels. The full integration of this digital system into the customs organization will allow for a significant reduction in paper documentation, minimize the time spent by vehicles at border crossings, and create conditions to elevate the efficiency of customs operations and control to a new level.
