Ashgabat has reached the final stage of preparations for the 111th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Ahead of the meeting scheduled for September 11, a delegation of the CIS Executive Committee paid a three-day working visit to Turkmenistan to discuss the organizational issues of the forum.

Following the meetings, a final protocol was signed. The document was signed by CIS Deputy Secretary General Ilhom Nematov and Turkmenistan's Minister of Finance and Economy Mammetguly Astanagulow.

Representatives of the CIS Executive Committee assessed the readiness of infrastructure facilities, meeting venues, and other relevant objects in Ashgabat designated for holding the meeting.

During the working meetings, the agenda of the 111th meeting was also agreed upon, including a total of 28 issues.

Among the main areas of the meeting, the Concept for the Development of Production of Promising Materials for High-Tech Industries holds a special place. A five-year plan for ensuring transport security in international transport for 2026–2030 will also be discussed.

In addition, a number of agreements related to financial cooperation and issues of establishing new CIS baseline organizations will be considered.

It is planned that 12 draft documents prepared as a result of the Ashgabat consultations — meaning a significant portion of all documents — will subsequently be submitted for approval by the CIS Council of Heads of Government.

The holding of the 111th meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Ashgabat highlights Turkmenistan's commitment to developing economic, transport, and technological cooperation within the Commonwealth.
