Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) plans to include the study of the Turkmen language in its core educational programs. This was announced following a meeting between the university’s Rector, Irina Kraeva, and Serdar Durdyyev, Counselor of the Embassy of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation.
The parties discussed expanding cooperation within the university's framework as the CIS base organization for languages and culture.
One of the main topics of the negotiations was the establishment of the Turkmen Language and Culture Center at MSLU. The opening of this platform is planned to coincide with the year of Turkmenistan's chairmanship in the CIS. The center is expected to be more than just an educational space; it will serve as a platform for large-scale cultural and educational projects aimed at bringing the two countries closer together.
Currently, 40 foreign languages are taught at MSLU, and the introduction of the Turkmen language department will be a significant milestone for the Department of Languages and Cultures of the CIS and Near Abroad Countries. Heads of relevant university departments, representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan, and the CIS Executive Committee also attended the meeting.
Participants expressed confidence that this new educational initiative will enable the training of highly skilled professionals who are in great demand in the field of international cooperation.
