
Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia signed a memorandum on cooperation to develop cargo transportation, digitize procedures, and assess the status of the Middle Corridor. This was reported by “Azerbaijan Railways” Closed Joint Stock Company.
The document was signed following talks between Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of CJSC “Azerbaijan Railways,” Turkmenistan’s Minister of Rail Transport Mämmet Akmämmedow, Chairman of the Board of “Uzbekistan Railways” JSC Zufar Narzullaev, and CEO of “Georgian Railways” JSC Lasha Abashidze. The talks were held on February 10, 2026, in Ashgabat.
During the meeting, the parties discussed mutual interests, opportunities to expand cooperation in the railway sector, including enhancing collaboration along the Middle Corridor, one of the main transit routes in the region.
The International Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (Middle Corridor) passes through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, connecting countries in Europe and Asia. This route is used for container cargo transportation via both rail and maritime transport.
