Turkmenistan will take part in a regional project of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation in water resources management and enhancing its resilience to climate change.
According to the “Report” news agency, citing the ADB, the project also includes Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The initiative is being implemented within the water sector of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program.
The total amount of technical assistance is USD 750,000 and will be financed through the ADB’s Special Technical Assistance Fund.
The project focuses on establishing a regional cooperation platform that brings together participating countries, relevant experts, strategic solutions, and joint initiatives to ensure coordinated and sustainable development of water resources.
The ADB notes that this initiative will support institutional cooperation mechanisms at the regional level and modernize practices and tools for climate-resilient water management.
The Asian Development Bank has been cooperating with Turkmenistan since 2000, supporting the diversification of the country’s export markets and the strengthening of interregional ties.
