Three Turkmen Boxers Represented at the World Championships in Dubai

From December 2 to 13, 2025, the 23rd AIBA World Boxing Championships is taking place in Dubai (UAE) under the auspices of the International Boxing Association (IBA).

Turkmenistan is represented at this prestigious tournament by three athletes selected following training camps held in Uzbekistan. According to the Boxing Federation of Turkmenistan, the national team includes:

  • Ykhlas Gylychzhanov (up to 60 kg, 25 years old)

  • Bayramdurdy Nurmukhammedov (up to 71 kg, 23 years old)

  • Dowlet Islamov (over 92 kg, 24 years old)

The prize fund of the tournament is 8.32 million USD. Winners in each weight category will receive 300,000 USD, silver medalists — 150,000 USD, bronze medalists — 75,000 USD, and 10,000 USD will be awarded for fifth place. Athletes will receive only half of the prize money: 25% goes to the coach, and another 25% to the national federation.

The championship will be held in 13 weight categories. From December 4 to 11 — preliminary bouts in all categories.
On December 12 — the “IBA.PRO” tournament, featuring the main event: a fight for the WBA super heavyweight title between Russia’s Murat Gassiev and Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev.

On December 13 — the final bouts of the World Championships in all weight divisions.

Athletes from 120 countries will take part in the tournament.
