Scientists Warn of the Strongest Geomagnetic Storm of the Year
RAS: Earth Enters a Plasma Stream from a Coronal Hole on the Sun
Earth has entered a stream of plasma coming from a coronal hole on the Sun. Two additional clouds of plasma ejected by powerful solar flares are also expected to reach the planet. The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported this in its Telegram channel.
According to scientists, Earth is about to experience the strongest geomagnetic storm not only of the year but of the past several years.
Researchers explained that over the next 24 hours, the planet will enter the influence zone of a large coronal hole and will be struck by two plasma clouds ejected after major solar flares.
Scientists reminded that geomagnetic disturbances began earlier, and today the coronal hole has driven the solar wind parameters “into extreme ranges.”
Earlier, the head of the Space Weather Center of IZMIRAN, Maria Abunina, stated that on November 7, a new powerful magnetic storm is expected to hit Earth.
On November 6, neurologist Anastasia Artemova warned that the main phase of the strong magnetic storm predicted for November 7 may negatively affect weather-sensitive people, particularly those with chronic health conditions.
