Amazon Unveils “Leo Ultra” — a Customer Antenna Reaching Speeds of Up to 1 Gbit/s
Amazon has officially introduced Leo Ultra, its most powerful customer antenna for the new Leo satellite internet. Previously, this project was known as Project Kuiper, and its main goal is to compete with Starlink.
What Makes Leo Ultra Different?
According to Amazon’s official website:
-
The Leo system currently offers customers the highest download and upload speeds.
-
Leo Ultra is the fastest among all customer terminals:
-
download speed — up to 1 Gbit/s,
-
upload speed — up to 400 Mbit/s.
-
Other models include:
-
Pro — 11-inch model, download speeds up to 400 Mbit/s.
-
Nano — a 7-inch square model, speeds up to 100 Mbit/s.
Comparison with Starlink
Starlink’s current business plans offer a maximum download speed of 400 Mbit/s, which is twice as slow as the speed advertised by Amazon.
However, according to available information, SpaceX’s next-generation Starlink V3 may support speeds of up to 1 Tbit/s in the future.
