Xiaomi Takes the Lead in China's Smartphone Market

In the first quarter of 2025, Xiaomi achieved the top position in China’s domestic smartphone market for the first time in the past decade. This information is detailed in a report published by the analytics firm Canalys.

During the reporting period, Xiaomi sold 13.3 million smartphones, securing a 19% market share. Huawei came in second, selling 13 million devices and capturing 18% of the market. Oppo and Vivo followed in third and fourth places, selling 10.6 million and 10.4 million smartphones, respectively.

One of the most surprising findings in the report was that Apple dropped to fifth place. The American tech giant sold 9.2 million iPhones in the first three months of 2025, which is an 8% decline compared to the same period last year.

Overall, China's smartphone market saw growth in the first quarter of 2025, with total sales reaching 70.9 million units — a 5% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024.
