The Opening Ceremony of the “30th Anniversary of Neutrality” Monument Held in Ashgabat

Today, with the participation of foreign delegations visiting our country to attend the International Peace and Trust Forum, the opening ceremony of the “30th Anniversary of Neutrality” Monument as well as the flag-raising ceremony at the Neutrality Monument Square took place in our capital.

Turkmenistan’s peace-loving foreign policy, which enjoys broad support in the international arena, is based on the legal status of permanent neutrality. This unique doctrine serves as a foundation for peaceful coexistence, regional security, and sustainable development. Over the past 30 years, it has proven to be an effective instrument, enabling Turkmenistan to act as a reliable partner and an active participant in global processes.

The international community recognizes the importance of this status for the entire region, reaffirming it multiple times. United Nations documents, including General Assembly resolutions, stand as evidence of the relevance and success of this policy today.

Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality policy has a solid international legal basis, strengthened and developed through three UN General Assembly Resolutions. These documents reflect the evolution of the Neutrality Doctrine — from a political principle to a multifaceted instrument of international diplomacy.
