South Sudan is considered the youngest country in the world. Having gained independence in July 2011, this nation spans approximately 644,329 square kilometers. The country’s population is around 12.7 million people, divided into several ethnic groups. South Sudan is divided into 10 states and 3 administrative areas, with English as its official language.
