On the Path to Higher Military Education: Rules and Requirements for Admission to the Border Service Institute of Turkmenistan for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

In order to train highly qualified specialists for the State Border Service of Turkmenistan, it is announced that the acceptance of documents from candidates wishing to enter the Border Service Institute of Turkmenistan has begun.

The duration of study at the institute is 5 years. During this period, cadets are fully supported by the state — they are provided with meals, military uniforms, a stipend, and dormitory accommodation (barracks).

The selection and acceptance of documents will continue until March 31, 2026. The age categories of candidates are determined as follows:

— citizens with complete secondary education who have completed compulsory military service and wish to serve under contract — up to 24 years old;
— citizens who graduated from specialized military schools of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan and have not completed compulsory military service — up to 25 years old;
— servicemen serving under contract — up to 25 years old.

The age of candidates is calculated as of September 1, 2026.

Candidates must submit the following properly prepared documents to the admission committee:

— application addressed to the rector, indicating full name, date and place of birth, education, place of study (or work/service), position, military rank, permanent address, request for admission, and readiness to serve in any region of the country;
— autobiography and personal information;
— certificate of residence and family composition;
— certificate from parents’ workplace (if unemployed — certificate confirming unemployment);
— if one parent is deceased — copy of death certificate; if divorced — certificate issued by the Civil Registry Office;
— original reference from the last place of study, work, or service;
— medical certificate of fitness for study at the Border Service Institute;
— copy of passport (or certificate from the internal affairs department confirming that the passport has not yet been issued);
— copy of military ID;
— if employed — copy of the labor book, certified by the HR department;
— original document of education (certificate or diploma of secondary, initial, or secondary vocational education);
— 1 photo sized 9×12 cm and 9 photos sized 3×4 cm without a head covering.

Candidates currently serving in the military (by draft or contract) must be photographed in military uniform.
Candidates bear personal responsibility for providing false information or documents.

When appearing for entrance exams:
— civilian candidates must have a passport;
— those who completed compulsory military service — military ID;
— active servicemen (draft or contract) — military ID.

Applicants take entrance exams in accordance with the school curriculum of Turkmenistan: Turkmen language, History of Turkmenistan, Mathematics, and Physical fitness test (normatives).
Exams are conducted in the state language.

Applicants must submit their documents to the nearest military units of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan based on their place of residence.

Admission to the institute is on a competitive basis, according to the results of entrance exams and the decision of the admission committee.
