Turkmen Weightlifters Succeed at World Championship

At the Youth and Junior World Weightlifting Championships held in Lima, the capital of Peru, athletes from Turkmenistan’s national team achieved notable success. They earned one gold and several silver medals across different weight categories.
Anamjan Rustamova becomes world champion
Turkmenistan’s Anamjan Rustamova claimed the top spot on the podium at the World Championship among youth and juniors in Peru.
Competing in the 87 kg weight category, Rustamova lifted 108 kg in the snatch and 141 kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 249 kg to win the gold medal. The silver went to Mexico’s Vanessa Lizarraga (244 kg: 109+135), and the bronze to Russia’s Mariya Gruzdova (242 kg: 108+134).
Yslam Akmyradow wins silver medal
In the 96 kg category, Yslam Akmyradow lifted 141 kg in the snatch and 175 kg in the clean and jerk, with a total of 316 kg, earning second place. Armenia’s Grigor Gazaryan won gold (330 kg: 145+185), while India’s Parv Chaudhary took bronze (315 kg: 140+175).
Didarbek Jumabayev’s strong showing
Competing in the 81 kg weight class, Didarbek Jumabayev earned a silver medal with a total of 305 kg (137 kg in snatch + 168 kg in clean and jerk). Ukraine’s Serhii Kotelevskyi won gold (314 kg: 142+172), while Latvia’s Maksim Vasilonoks claimed bronze (297 kg: 136+161).
Kakamyrat Annamyradow earns silver
In the 73 kg category, Kakamyrat Annamyradow lifted 130 kg in the snatch and 160 kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 290 kg for a second-place finish. Egypt’s Metwally Hussein Abdelrahman took gold (306 kg: 141+165), and Kazakhstan’s Yernur Myrzakhmet got bronze (286 kg: 131+155).
Turkmen athletes making their mark globally
Athletes like Ogulshat Amanova also performed strongly at the championship. These achievements reflect Turkmenistan’s effective national policy to promote and develop sports across the country.
