Turkmenistan Moves Up Two Spots in FIFA Rankings

The national team of Turkmenistan has climbed two positions in the updated FIFA rankings, moving up to 138th place with a total of 1087 points. The ranking currently includes 210 national teams.
In the latest standings, Turkmenistan is positioned between Latvia (137th place, 1088 points) and Botswana (139th place, 1087 points).
Among Asian teams, Japan holds the highest position at 19th place. The top three teams in Asia also include Iran (21st) and South Korea (23rd).
It is worth noting that in August and September, Turkmenistan's national team participated in the group stage of MAFA-2025, playing three matches.
Turkmenistan’s next match will be on October 9 against Sri Lanka in an away fixture as part of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. The return match will take place on September 14 in Ashgabat.
At the top of the FIFA rankings, Spain has taken over first place from Argentina, the reigning world champion. This is Spain’s first time at the top since 2014. Argentina dropped to third place after a loss to Ecuador, while France moved into second. England is in fourth place, followed by Portugal in fifth.
The team with the biggest improvement in the new rankings is Slovakia, which defeated Germany 2-0 and jumped 10 spots to reach 42nd place. Italy returned to the top 10, and Canada, climbing two spots, achieved the highest ranking in its history.
