9 vs 11: PSG wins again

Paris club PSG defeated strong opponent Bayern Munich 2–0 in the Club World Cup (CWC) quarterfinals despite being reduced to nine men. But the match was remembered not only for the scoreline but also for its dramatic moments — including a serious injury to Jamal Musiala that shocked the football world.

Match progress: Bayern's pressure and PSG's patient resistance
From the very first minutes, Bayern applied intense pressing, pinning PSG in their own half. The Germans held possession high up the pitch, trying to build dangerous attacks, while PSG responded with calculated counterattacks.

In the first half, Kvaratskhelia's quick runs caused problems for Bayern’s defenders. He beat Upamecano several times, creating dangerous chances. Although Neuer managed to save his team in some moments, PSG continued to threaten.

Injuries and red card drama
The turning point came in the first half — Bayern's Sosa got injured and was substituted. Later, Jamal Musiala suffered a serious injury after a collision with Donnarumma. It was his first match back in the CWC, but now he might be sidelined again for a long time.

PSG took the lead in the 78th minute through a goal by Desire Doue. Portuguese midfielder Neves intercepted Kane's pass and orchestrated a clinical counterattack. This time, Neuer couldn’t react.

In the 82nd minute, PSG’s Paco was shown a straight red for a harsh tackle on Goretzka. In added time (90+2’), Lucas Hernandez was also sent off for elbowing an opponent — PSG was left with just 9 players.

Final blow: Dembele and Hakimi's teamwork
The expected counterattack arrived. In the 90+6th minute, Hakimi launched from his own half and delivered a long pass to Dembele. He broke through Bayern’s defense and scored the second goal — sealing PSG's dominant win and putting them one step closer to the final.

Penalty and VAR drama
In the 90+9th minute, referee Anthony Taylor awarded Bayern a penalty. But after a VAR check, it was determined that Mendes hadn’t made contact with Müller’s head, and the penalty was overturned. The match ended shortly afterward.

Result and next opponent
Despite being down to nine men, PSG secured a huge victory. They will now face the winner between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the final. This intense and eventful match once again showed how football can evoke deep emotion.
