China launches satellites for low-orbit internet system
China has successfully launched the 13th group of low-orbit internet satellites, according to China Central Television (CCTV).
The launch took place at 10:41 a.m. local time (05:41 Moscow time) from a commercial spaceport on Hainan Island, using a Long March-12 carrier rocket. All satellites successfully entered their designated orbits.
Earlier, it was reported that the Chinese company Galactic Energy plans to introduce the world’s first electromagnetic rocket launch system in 2028.
The system will operate on the principle of maglev (magnetic levitation), using superconducting magnets to accelerate rockets to supersonic speeds even before their engines are ignited. It is expected to be quiet and will help save rocket fuel significantly.
