Instagram Launches Edits — A New Video Editing App*

Instagram* has launched a new video editing app called Edits, positioning it as another alternative to the popular Chinese app CapCut. The app is now available for free download on both iOS and Android platforms.

Edits offers advanced editing features not available within the main Instagram app, such as:

• creating animations from still images using artificial intelligence,

• green screen replacement,

• object removal from videos,

• and many other creative tools.

One standout feature is a dedicated analytics section for tracking performance of published Reels.

More features are on the way — the app will soon include additional AI-powered content editing tools and collaborative features, allowing users to work on videos together. Instagram* head Adam Mosseri previously stated that Edits is expected to become a “creative powerhouse” with a broader range of tools than CapCut.

To use Edits, an Instagram account is required* — there are no other login options. The app supports the Russian language, making it easy to use for Russian-speaking users as well.
