On November 21, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia held an international conference in Tbilisi dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, Turkmenportal reported, citing the embassy’s press service.

The event was attended by representatives of Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the country, members of the Turkmen delegation, representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, university leadership, and journalists.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia, Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov, stated that over the years of independence, the country has gained significant peacekeeping experience and has become an important strategic partner of the United Nations. He recalled that Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality has been recognized by the UN three times and noted the symbolic coincidence of the anniversary with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia A. Khvtisiashvili congratulated the Turkmen side on the anniversary and emphasized that bilateral relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan are based on mutual respect and cover a wide range of areas: politics, economy, transport, energy, culture, education, and sports. According to him, high-level visits open new opportunities for developing the partnership.

The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician D. Gurgenidze, highlighted the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation as a foundation for expanding academic contacts between the two countries.
