Earth to Witness Two “Close Full Moons” by the End of 2025
By the end of 2025, Earth will witness two Close Full Moon events — on November 5 and December 4.
This was reported by the Department of Astrophysics at Baku State University’s Faculty of Physics.
A Close Full Moon occurs when the Moon is full and reaches its perigee, the point in its orbit closest to Earth (less than 360,000 km away). During this time, the Moon appears 7–14% larger and 15–30% brighter than usual.
In November and December, the distance between the Earth and the Moon will be 356,832 km and 356,961 km, respectively.
Scientists emphasize that the Close Full Moon phenomenon poses no danger to humans or nature. The only noticeable effect is a slight rise in ocean and sea levels by about 3–5 centimeters.
