Fighting Tobacco — The Path to a Healthy Lifestyle
In Turkmenistan, the Law “On Protecting the Health of Citizens from the Effects of Tobacco Smoke and Tobacco Product Use” provides a legal foundation for large-scale initiatives aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Every year on May 31, on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, extensive public awareness campaigns are held across the country, including in Lebap province. These activities aim to educate citizens about the dangers of smoking and to encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyle practices.
As proven by medical science, the harm that tobacco causes to the human body is severe. Tobacco smoke contains more than 400 harmful chemical substances, 43 of which are known to contribute to the development of malignant tumors in various organs. The smoke affects not only smokers themselves but also those around them — their families, coworkers, and children. This is referred to as “passive smoking” and it is equally dangerous.
In Lebap province, awareness campaigns, sports events, health marches, and educational meetings with young people are organized with the support of healthcare institutions, educational bodies, and public organizations. These efforts help instill healthy habits and values in the younger generation.
Living a healthy lifestyle starts with proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and avoiding harmful habits. These practices lead to the development of good habits, and good habits, in turn, lead to health and happiness.
Proud of our beautiful era, let us all strive to live a healthy and happy life — it is our shared responsibility!
