Geely Unveils Its First Pre-Production Flying Taxi
Aerofugia, a subsidiary of Chinese automotive giant Geely, has officially rolled out the first pre-production unit of its flying taxi — the AE200-100.
This aircraft belongs to the eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) category, which is expected to be widely used in the future for urban and regional passenger transportation.
The AE200-100 impresses with its dimensions:
-
Length: 9 meters
-
Height: 4.6 meters
-
Wingspan: 14.5 meters
It features pylons with thrust propellers mounted on the wings. The aircraft is designed to carry five passengers, including the pilot, and can fly up to 200 kilometers on a single charge.
The initial units will be used for various test phases — including internal and certification trials. Aerofugia plans to start mass production in 2026. By then, the company aims to expand its manufacturing capacity and open a new production facility in Chengdu, which will produce not only the AE200-100 but other future models as well.
According to Aerofugia representatives:
“With a range of up to 200 kilometers, the AE200-100 can be used for urban air mobility, low-altitude tourism, and emergency rescue operations. In addition, its electric propulsion system significantly reduces operational costs compared to traditional helicopters.”
