Google Cloud Joins ChatGPT Infrastructure Providers

OpenAI has announced a strategic expansion of its cloud infrastructure by adding Google Cloud Platform to the list of compute providers supporting its flagship product, ChatGPT. This move signals a shift toward a more diversified, multi-vendor resource strategy. OpenAI now collaborates with four major providers: Microsoft, Google Cloud Platform, CoreWeave, and Oracle.

The deployment of Google Cloud to support ChatGPT and its API will be rolled out across five strategic regions: the United States, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom.

This change also reflects a shift in the relationship between OpenAI and Microsoft. Despite substantial investments last year, Microsoft has officially designated OpenAI as a competitor. As a result, the previously close partnership has evolved into a more multi-faceted collaboration landscape.
