New Districts Established in Several Provinces of Turkmenistan
According to a resolution adopted by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, new districts (etraps) have been established in four provinces of the country. This important decision was officially approved by the President of Turkmenistan during the regular meeting of the Halk Maslahaty held on September 19, 2025.
The newly established districts are as follows:

In Ahal Province – Altyn Asyr district,

In Dashoguz Province – Garaşsyzlyk and Gubadag districts,

In Lebap Province – Farap, Döwletli, and Garabekewül districts,

In Mary Province – Oguz Han district.
Along with this, the administrations (häkimliks) of the new districts have also been established.
The administrations of the respective provinces were instructed, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and the Ministry of Justice, to develop the organizational structures and staffing levels for the new district administrations and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers.
The creation of these districts aims to support the successful implementation of the objectives outlined in the "Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022–2028" and the revised National Program for improving living conditions in rural areas and district centers by 2028.
