Currently, political and diplomatic relations between Italy and Turkmenistan are successfully developing both bilaterally and multilaterally — primarily within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and other international organizations. Italy has acted as a co-author of numerous UN General Assembly Resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan.

Cooperation between the countries of Central Asia — which possess rich natural resources, rapidly growing economies, and favorable geographical locations — and Italy enables more effective realization of their potential. In this regard, it is important to highlight that such partnership opens access for regional countries to advanced technologies, investments, and expertise in industrial, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
