According to the ministry, the continuous growth of the national vehicle fleet in recent years has led to more crowded and diverse traffic on highways and in cities. In such conditions, the importance of well-coordinated traffic management and safety becomes especially critical.

“It is well known that most traffic accidents occur primarily due to violations of speed regulations,” the statement emphasized.

Speed — A Key Factor in Road Safety

The Ministry reminds that choosing the right speed is one of the key aspects of safe driving. According to article 10.1 of Turkmenistan’s Traffic Regulations, drivers must travel at a speed that ensures compliance with traffic rules, considering road conditions, weather, traffic density, and the vehicle’s specifics.

Following this rule is not only a legal obligation but also a vital measure to protect the health and lives of all road users.

Traffic Culture Reflects Social Maturity

The ministry also noted that road safety depends not only on the technical condition of vehicles or infrastructure but also on the overall traffic culture. Mutual respect among drivers, pedestrians, and traffic authorities is a sign of social development and trust.

To support this, the country regularly conducts public education and outreach activities. One such campaign is the "Road Safety – The Calm of Our Lives" awareness month, which includes lectures, meetings, information drives, and various public initiatives.

“Following traffic rules is a responsibility for every citizen. Road safety means the well-being of our homes and our lives,” the statement concluded.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan calls on all road users — especially drivers — to strictly follow traffic rules, demonstrate respect on the roads, and take personal responsibility. This not only ensures individual safety but strengthens the well-being of society as a whole.
